The Kentucky Friends of Bluegrass Music Club, a non-profit organization, was established in 1979 for the promotion and preservation of Bluegrass Music. The first members numbered 51 and were from the general area of Powell County, Kentucky. It gradually grew to 200 as people became more aware. It continued to grow gradually until Meadowgreen Park Music Hall opened in 1986. We now stand at over 600 with members joining from outside the boundaries of Kentucky.
Our members include such musicians as The Osborne Brothers (11 year members); Larry Sparks and the Lonesome Ramblers (four years); Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys (two years); Homer Ledford and Cabin Creek (several years off and on members) along with many other bands who have been with us for many years. But most of our members just enjoy Bluegrass Music and want to see it thrive.
Bluegrass Music is part of the cultural heritage of the Southern Appalachian area of the country. We, Kentucky that is, are as much associated with Bluegrass Music as we are The Kentucky Derby. Both are traditions that have stood the test of time.
Our organization has four officers and seven board of directors.
We are always welcoming new members into the fold! Membership fees are more than affordable! Please click here for the application.
